Women in the UK workforce, particularly in the Highways Departments, play a vital role in maintaining and improving the country's road infrastructure. The sector has seen increasing female participation in roles ranging from engineering and project management to site inspections and traffic operations. Their contributions help promote diversity, bring new perspectives, and drive innovation in the construction and transportation industries. However, challenges like gender imbalance and workplace barriers remain, making ongoing efforts to support women in these roles essential for the sector's future.
